The Church's calendar, of course, has always had contrasting periods of fasting and feasting; times more focused on joy, and times more focused on sorrow. Not alas in the Novus Ordo calendar, which cuts short the twelve days of Christmas to eleven this year by putting Epiphany on the Sunday, and ends Christmastide in another week!
In any case, for those of us who are still celebrating, some important things to remember for Epiphany:
- collect your supply of especially blessed Epiphany holy water (assuming your priest does the full thing) - this is the most heavily exorcized and blessed holy water there is!
- also collect your supply of blessed chark in order to bless your house (or ideally get a priest to bless it for you). You can find details of what to do over at http://www.fisheaters.com/ in their seasonal customs section.
